Sony Xperia U ST25i images leaked - External and internal photos
21 February 2012 by Olav Hellesø-Knutsen Several images of an unannounced Sony Xperia smartphone has leaked. We are guessing this is a smaller version of the Xperia S - namely the Sony Xperia U ST25i Android smartphone The Chinese site it168.com has yet again manage to get hands on a nice collection of leaked prototype photos. This time, it's of the unannounced Sony Xperia U handset which we first saw photos of in January. A Sony handset roadmap has also leaked before, and from that list we can see that the Xperia U ST25i, codename Kumquat, is expected to be launched in April for approximately 262 Euro. To reach the goal of having Xperia U ready for shipment in April, MWC next week would be a convenient time to announce the device. The leaked images shows the Xperia U side-by-side with the larger Xperia S with its 4.3 inch display. We do not have all the hard facts about this device but it is rumored to have a 3.5 inch display and lower resolution than the 720x1280 pixels on the Xperia S. By looking at these photos we know more about the Xperia U today than we did yesterday. Xperia U will use a normal SIM, not the microSIM found in Xperia S. It has a 1290 mAh exchangeable battery inside. Xperia U will be shipped with Android 2.3.7 but it will of course be possible to upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later. Probably in the first quarter. Sony is making Android 4.0 available to the newest models first. The older Xperia's from 2011 like the Neo and Arc will receive the update in Q2. As you can see from these photos, the Xperia U is still wearing the Sony Ericsson logo. This will be replaced by the Sony logo in the final version. Where the Xperia S has a 12 megapixel camera, Xperia U will only be fitted with a 5 megapixel entry-level camera. It is also obvious that the battery contributes with the biggest part of the total volume of the phone, which is good in a way, since it indicates that battery life is considered to be an important parameter.
I'm not sure if I like the new Sony design. The part below the ribbon around the phone at the bottom looks like some kind of auxiliary equipment attached to the bottom of the phone and that can be removed, like the snap-on camera on T68 or the snap-on radio on some old Ericsson and SonyEricsson models. When they are on the same ground they seem have the same tickness. That might be a good alternative for XRay TeknoBoi9012 years, 9 months ago the new Sony style reminds me of the K810i, and I like it! hihihans12 years, 9 months ago on top right side the housing doesn't fit.
