the new firmware is absolutely soooo unsuccessful on mp3 performance.

Maximum volume is slightly lower, let's just say like one bar.
Playing quality is reduced, it just sounds like a noise filter is applied on tracks.
Equalizer presets are less effective, especially there's almost no difference on Mega Bass.. That used to be great on r1ca021...

I am totally frustrated with this ''downgrade''...

I wish I hadn't done the upgrade......

the new fw sucks big time on mp3 playback..I see I am not alone in this... Ohhh.... I want my previous f/w back without a mass tweak (I don't want to s**** my guarantee in this regard.)

If you're on R1CA021 DO NOT UPGRADE! That's what I advice!

I am really feeling sad about my phone I hope this is not the last update from SE.

EDIT: I've just sent 2 mails to SE describing the problem (one for my country and one for UK), thru Product Support forms via SE Web site, let's please send them mails about this bug and make them aware about this issue...I hope there'll be a minor update solving this issue...Oh pleaaase...

When will voda users be able to upgrade from R1AA008 on the W800i?

The phone has stopped saving photos and crashes the camers application, anyone got a solution?

Why update to the latest firmware? There have been ZERO significant bug fixes in R1DB (apart from I think a language pack update?).

Why would anyone risk getting a bug with newly released firmware? okay I know it's exciting to get new firmware, but it's also possible for new firmware to have bugs no one has reported yet, aka audio quality on R1DB, or far worse, the file transfer bug on R1N!

All good reasons to wait a little while before jumping into the latest firmware

Leave that to cid36 owners (and use FAR and SEFP to downgrade the phone to any firmware you want after trying the new stuff)

i think that semc know what they are doing well, they have decread mp3 quality and they know this, cause mp3 is spetial for w800, and the camera for k750. they want to separate this phones, to not buy them at one price.

if you got bad playback quality, you can always change your phf files with moongoose's, don't need to downgrade i think, cause moongoose said that the only file that's being changed on R1BD is phf_play.apf,phf2_play.apf & farfield if i'm not wrong

Agree, it's not necessary to downgrade per se to fix the audio problem, but there may be other bugs as yet undiscovered (it's only new still). So I'm just saying stick with something reliable like R1BC, then if you want better sound use a modded driver.

(peeps still need cid36 or they can't do it - so if you have a cid49 phone and update, you can't go back, another reason not to update hastily)

btw, I agree about mongooses driver - it is the best by far for audio quality.

The K750/W800 have NEVER been differentiated by audio drivers. Why would they start now, at the end of the product cycle?

There is no difference between audio drivers of K750's and W800's of the same firmware. for example the two audio drivers for W800 R1BC and K750 R1BC are identical in all respects. They are the same driver. (I just compared them in an editor)

I don't think you'll se SE introduce retarded drivers in K750's, that's based on a myth that the same thing was done to the K800. What ever the K800's audio problems, it's not to due to SE wanting to penalise one user over another for their choice in branding, that's just nonsense.

Hope this cheers u up!
If your mp3 playback is not loud enough and if u do not have the program ‘MP3Gain’ just google around and download and install it.
Then with the help of this program increase the db (loudness) of your mp3 folder from 89db (default) to 102 db. U can always change the loudness to what suits u best.
Cheers!

The ironic thing here is that it looks like SE finally got it right with PHF_2_PLAY and stuffed up by modifying PHF_1_PLAY and PHF_play. My money says if you roll back just phf_1_play and phf_play you're MP3 playback will be fine.

yep, I reckon that'd be on the money. But mongoose, your PHF_2_Play file is way better than any stock I've heard.

@strpds, that suggestion of using mp3gain on the music folder is a good one. It seems the starting point is to ensure all tracks have the same gain and have been normalised (102dB is a good choice). From there it's possible to see what is and what isn't the fault of the drivers.
